  • Product Description
  • I. What is a fluid pipe?

A fluid pipe, as its name suggests, is a pipeline primarily used for transporting fluids. It is distinguished from structural pipes, which are mainly used for manufacturing mechanical structures, load-bearing supports, and the like.

In a broad sense, any steel pipe used to convey fluids can be referred to as a fluid pipe. However, in a more specific and standardized context, it typically refers to seamless steel pipes manufactured according to certain standards (such as GB/T 8163) and intended for the transportation of neutral fluids.

II. Main Features of Fluid Pipes

Compared to structural pipes and the specialized pipes mentioned earlier (such as pipeline pipes and boiler pipes), fluid pipes have their own specific focus:

Pressure-bearing capacity is crucial: the core requirement is to safely withstand the working pressure of the fluid without cracking or leaking.

Mature technology, cost-effective: As a general-purpose fluid-conveying pipe, its material and manufacturing process are relatively standardized, offering high value for money.

    Certain process requirements:

Hydraulic Testing: Before leaving the factory, the vast majority of fluid pipes must undergo hydraulic testing one by one to verify their pressure-bearing capacity and sealing performance. This is one of the key distinctions between them and structural pipes.

Surface quality—both internal and external: The inner and outer surfaces must be smooth to reduce resistance during fluid transport and prevent scaling and corrosion.

The requirements for high temperature and corrosion resistance are relatively relaxed: Compared with alloy steel pipes and stainless steel pipes, standard fluid pipes (such as 20 steel) are suitable for media that are either non-corrosive or only very mildly corrosive.

    III. Main Standards and Materials

Commonly used standard: GB/T 8163 "Seamless Steel Tubes for Fluid Transport" is the core and frequently used standard.

    Common materials:

20# Steel (20 Steel): This is a commonly used, typical material for fluid pipes, possessing excellent overall mechanical properties and good processability (such as weldability and cold bendability).

Q345B (low-alloy high-strength steel): Used in applications requiring higher strength.

Other carbon steels, such as 10# and 45#, can also be used as required.

    IV. Manufacturing Process

Fluid pipes are primarily manufactured using seamless steel pipe processes, such as hot rolling or cold drawing. This ensures the uniformity of the pipe body and reliable pressure-bearing performance. Although welded fluid pipes also exist, in traditional applications and critical scenarios, seamless steel pipes remain the mainstream choice for fluid pipes.

    V. Application Areas

Fluid pipes have extremely wide-ranging applications, spanning across various industrial and civil sectors:

Hydraulic System: Cylinders and hydraulic pipelines used in the manufacture of hydraulic equipment.

Pneumatic system: Compressed air delivery pipeline.

Construction machinery: lubrication oil pipes, cooling water pipes, and other types of pipes for various machines.

Chemical Industry: Conveying chemical raw materials and intermediate products that are not highly corrosive.

Urban Buildings: Building HVAC Systems and Fire Sprinkler Systems.

General mechanical equipment: cooling water pipelines, lubrication system pipelines.
